第９回PDA高校生即興型英語ディベート全国大会参加

１２月２３日（土）、２４日（日）の両日、東大の生産技術研究所とオンラインのハイブリッドで開催された即興型英語ディベート大会が開催されました。

三田高校は、北は北海道、南は鹿児島まで現地に集結した４９校の中の１校として参加しました。

１日目は予選の４試合が行われました。

それぞれの論題は以下の通りです。

Round 1 : Japan should make university tuition free.  （日本は、大学を無償化するべきである）

Round 2 : Being fashinable brings more benefit than harm. （おしゃれは、害よりも利益をもたらす）

Round 3 : To change Japan, it is better to be a business person than a politician.  （日本を変えるなら、政治よりも商売を選ぶべきである）

Round 4 : The U.S. should stop supporting Israel.  （米国はイスラエル支援をやめるべきである）

準備時間は論題が発表された直後の15分間です。この間に自分たちの主張を話し合い、英語にしていきます。

会場では白熱した議論が交わされました。

2日目は決勝トーナメントに進んだチームの試合を観戦し、また社会の第一線で活躍される方々のレクチャーを聞きました。

他の学校とのプレゼント交換もあり、非常に実り多い2日間でした。

以下、参加した生徒の感想です。

We, Mita high school's English club got a numerous opportunities through this debate tournament. We saw many marvelous players in these matches, and I'm very aware that we should not end up this journey like we just enjoyed Christmas party with them. Although I really enjoyed the party, I realized that I was the one who started debating just  less than a year ago. There was a chance to debate with Asano high school which got the 2nd place. They were quite perfect and I clearly noticed that this was the one we should set as a goal. I'm feeling studying with passion and happiness is the most important thing in this club. So, Even though we set others as a goal, we'll grow up with our own way.

Anyway, it's a good opportunity to have a new year's goal. I'm really really happy if I can join the tournament next time. Next time, we'll defeat you！
