If let me choose a color to decorate my adolescence life, it must be the bright orange of sunshine, breaking through the wind, and making the memories shine in our lives.

The cultural festival is a major event held at most high schools in Japan in the fall, lasting for two days. In addition to the students and teachers on campus, it also provides an opportunity for outside guests to visit. All activities are independently planned by the students on campus, with the teachers providing a highly freedom to students, only playing a role as assistants. As for the specific content of the cultural festival, it varies depending on the school's culture. Some schools focus on club performances, while others mainly emphasize their academic exhibition. The theme for the year is also decided by the students, aiming to reflect the feature about the "present."

The theme of our school's cultural festival this year is "Light." Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, our school has been unable to welcome outside guests into campus for four years, preventing them from experiencing the youthful atmosphere with us. Despite of facing external challenges, the passion in our heart still shines brightly. Now, it’s time to rekindle the passion which was once deeply buried in our hearts.

During the cultural festival preparation period at our school, our school shortens the teaching hours, allowing students to dedicate themselves to preparing for the cultural festival after classes every day. Everyone worked whole-heartedly. Perhaps the shared focus on the same goal is the best welcome gift for me. Watching everyone fully engaged in without distraction fills me with an indescribable feeling. Taking action is the best way to speak.

Apart from the preparation period, the variety of the activities also taught me something new. In addition to class activities, some clubs also set up booths or perform.

The club I joined is the Tea Ceremony Club, and our activity in cultural festival is "tea party," making guests to experience the beauty of this traditional art together. Beacues I am the beginner of tea ceremony, I took on the role of "Mizu-ya," which is responsible for serving sweets and matcha tea to the guests. This time, I was also fortunate to borrow a yukata from the teacher, making me to experience the atmosphere of the tea party from the inside out.

There is another difference between Japan and Taiwan: on the day of the cultural festival, there are all-day club performances. After finishing my works in the club, I went to enjoy performances by the school's Dance Club and Concert Band. These two clubs practice extensively every week and can be considered to the busiest clubs in the school! Though both are clubs about music, they present completely different styles.

The Dance Club's style spans from HIP-HOP to K-POP, dancing passionately with the rhythm of the music. From their fingertips to the core of their bodies, you can see that the members have devoted themselves to the art of dance, turning their passion into physical expression, and radiating the melodies of youth on the stage.

While the Concert Club may not be very large in terms of membership, it is well-rounded. In addition to musical compositions, their song selections include many styles related to "summer" and "youth." Allowing the audience to experience the spirit of youth.

Next, let's talk about our class activities. Although I couldn't participate the process of deciding on our booth, during the preparation period, I still felt their enthusiasm for the cultural festival. In addition to being responsible for organizing the cultural committee, there are many volunteers in the class who actively help with both internal and external communication matters. They are proactive and enthusiastic, perhaps you could say they are the symbol of the cultural festival.

The game in our class is a shooting game called "Universe circulation." We make the classroom as a space atmosphere, making guests to sit on roller chairs and use balls to shoot down surrounding alien creatures, experiencing a journey in outer space.

To my surprise, all the game booths in festival are completely free, requiring only wholehearted enjoyment. As backstage person, we must be attentive and observant, making guests feel like they have stepped into an alternate universe that exists outside of reality.

On the second day, after all the booth activities have finished, there is an event called the "After Festival," featuring various student performances such as dancing and singing. This makes all the students in the school to show their highest enthusiasm and come together for a perfect end to the cultural festival. As each song begins, the students in the audience spontaneously clap along with the rhythm. In this performance, whether on stage or in the audience, everyone is a star on the stage of youth.

For me, this is both the first and the last cultural festival. In this short period of less than two weeks, it can be said that it completely transformed my previous school life. The center of campus life is no longer the rigid teaching confined to classrooms, spent anxiously watching the teacher's hourglass. Instead, it encouraged us to think independently and put learning into practice from various angles. It allowed students to actively plan all aspects, and the trust between teachers and students complemented each other.

Perhaps in the future, Taiwan's school fairs can also encourage all students to participate actively and become an event that everyone eagerly anticipates!
