Picking up Trash (2)

2021/03/01

I’ve been taking walks in nature for a long time. When I walk, I always try to take a plastic bag with me. As I walk, I pick up trash near the trail or road. I did this even before lockdown. Sometimes, I would pick up over 2 kilos of trash. Plastic is very harmful to animals and plants. I often feel angry that people aren’t more careful with their trash. There are always candy wrappers or plastic bottles near the trail. There were also sometimes cigarette butts, or plastic bags, or plastic boxes from the conbini.

I noticed that since lockdown began, because there are less people in the parks, the amount of trash has decreased. Now, new trash is very rare in the parks. I wish that people could take care of nature even when they go outside. But if they can’t, I’m happy that they stay in! And I think the forest is happier, too.
