東京都立小山台高等学校

  It’s been another busy week here at Koyamadai.  On Wednesday, we had our student general assembly, where the new officers for the student council were announced.  This also gave our student council an opportunity to talk about their hopes and concerns for the coming year with our whole student body.  In addition, our principal, and some of our other teachers, also had the chance to share some of their thoughts with everyone.  All in all, it was a great meeting, and everyone is looking forward to see what the coming year will bring.
  Our other major event occurred on Thursday, and was what we in America would call, “standardized testing.”  All of our first and second year students took the same test as their peers across the country.  This will give them the chance to see where they rank against all of Japan, and it will give us a chance to see how we are doing at teaching them.  It should be exciting for everyone to see the results, and we wish our students the best of luck with their scores.

　小山台では今週も忙しい一週間となりました。水曜日に生徒総会があり、後期生徒会役員が承認されました。生徒総会では、生徒会役員が全校生徒にこれからの任期での抱負や取り組みについて話しました。更に校長先生や他の先生からのお話もあり、全体を通して後期の学校生活に向けて気持ちを新たにするいい機会でした。
　もう一つ大きな行事が木曜日に行われました。それはアメリカでは「標準テスト」と呼ばれている模擬試験です。1,2年生全員が全国の同じ世代の人と同じ試験を受けました。この試験は生徒たちに自分が全国の中でどこに位置しているかを知る機会となります。そして我々教師がどのように生徒に教えるべきなのかを知る機会にもなります。生徒が模試の結果を見るときにはきっとドキドキするでしょう。良い結果が出るといいですね。
　今週はこれで終わり。来週の小山台の出来事を見るのが待ち遠しいです。
