Den-en-chofu High School’s Cultural Festival
At Den-en-chofu High School, the school cultural festival or as it is called here
“Paulownia Festival”, is held every year in September. It is a time when students demonstrate their creativity and compete for an award for best homeroom exhibit,
best club exhibit, and best play. Visitors can enjoy the many exhibits ranging from
themed cafes, haunted houses, mini games, as well as opportunities to cosplay and
take pictures! Visitors can also appreciate the plays held by the third year students
at the gym or enjoy the different activities held by the various school clubs. Foods
like chili hot dogs, yakisoba, and our very own cooking club’s sweet muffins can be
savored only once a year at this event. These special foods are so popular among
students, teachers, and the local community; they tend to sell out rather quickly!
So please be sure to arrive early next year!
The success of this year’s cultural festival, as well as of those in the past, bears
testament to the motivation and hard work that students as well as teachers
put into making this school the great school that it is today.
As someone who has never experienced any events quite like this in the U.S.,
I am very grateful for the experience and opportunity to take part in a piece of
Den-en-chofu High School tradition. I hope to continue to learn more about
Japanese culture and school life through wonderful events like these.
